Artizan Made grew out a need to showcase high quality handmade products from both TAFA: The Textile and Fiber Art List and the community at large. It is set up as a collective with shop members paying a setup fee and a monthly automatic payment to help with expenses. Although most of the members have shops on Etsy, increasingly Artizan supports and promotes members with stand-alone sites. The Market links to whatever links the member chooses to promote. It also has the capacity for members to use the site’s shopping cart with no commission charged on sales.
This model should be of great interest to the handmade community as others could set up similar sites with their own focus, much like chambers of commerce on the web.
