I made this quilt for my friend, Diane Gerlach, of Kenosha, Wisconsin. She picked the fabrics and molitas and I put it all together. The piece looks more chaotic in photos than it does in real life. There is more dimension to it than is apparent. On either side, medium-sized molas of parrots frame an inner jungle with smaller molitas and 3-d leaves. Molas are appliquéd panels made by the Kuna Indians of the San Blas Islands. The quilt was machine quilted by Pam Heavrin of Paducah, Kentucky.
